Every child has a somewhat different experience in his or her days at school. How a child feels at school has a great deal to do with the child’s behavior and learning. This basic fact is the foundation of My Real Feelings About School (MRFAS), a wonderful new tool that is fast becoming an essential part of teachers’ and counselors’ toolboxes everywhere.

MRFAS is a way for students, grades 3 through 8*, to identify those aspects of school that are satisfying and comfortable to them, and elements of school that trouble or frustrate them -- all without embarrassment or unwanted attention. Students simply answer 30 items about their peer relations, teacher relations, satisfaction with studies, and more, then self-score their responses to see their unique “profiles.”

Students get immediate feedback from their results about what to work on (and how to do so). Thereafter, the teacher or counselor uses the same results to understand the individuals’ adjustments and class dynamics, via the computer software provided. This software even provides specific ideas that can be implemented to address any of the problem areas identified!
